The Rising – Are You Ready To Fly?

The Rising return with their much anticipated second studio album “Are You Ready To Fly?”

It was recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales and was engineered by Welsh experimental musician Tim Lewis (Thighpaulsandra) who has played keyboards for Julian Cope and Spiritualized amongst others during his illustrious career.

The group started recording the follow-up to their 2013 self-titled debut album in October 2014 at Liam Watson’s Toe Rag Studios in London, but decamped to Rockfield in October 2015, when they began to explore different sounds and genres – namely psychedelic pop – which they sought to introduce alongside their existing brand of 60’s influenced rock n roll. Along with the growing number of personnel in the band and the limited recording options available at the analogue-only Toe Rag, it became difficult to continue the project there. A move to a more contemporary digital recording studio was needed and after whittling down their shortlist of potential locations, the band decided on Rockfield.

Due to the album being totally self-funded, The Rising have had to constantly keep busy in between recording sessions by selling out local gigs in their hometown of Southampton as well as playing shows up and down the country. During this time they have also appeared at The Isle Of Wight Festival, Victorious Festival, Common People and Bestival before finally finishing the album in June 2018.

“Are You Ready To Fly?” sees the band experiment with new ideas and influences, which adds a fresh dynamic and a real sense of evolution to their sound, without straying too far away from the nucleus of their eponymous release which won the band an impressive fanbase.

The Rising will celebrate the release of the new album by playing a special album launch show at The Joiners in Southampton on Friday 9th November – the actual day of the album’s release. They’ll then sign off 2018 in style by supporting Shaun Ryder’s Black Grape on their winter tour at The Engine Rooms in Southampton on Friday 30th November.
