The Carnival Of Fools – Complete Discography 1989-1993

We are really proud to welcome Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi and his band Carnival Of Fools to Area Pirata!

This double CD-set contains the entire discography of the band that Joe (Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi) formed back in the day with the urge to celebrate his ‘carnival of fools’.

From the liner notes written by Roberto Calabrò (journalist for Blow Up, Shindig! and Ruta 66):
‘…Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi, known to everyone as Joe, is a well-known figure in the city of Milan. At the beginning of the decade he founded the Unknown Scream, was then singer and performer with 2+2=5, later leader of the Superlovers and Sir Chimes & The Lovers which partially led to the first line-up of the Carnival of Fools, a moniker he ‘stole’ from a line of “Witt”, Patti Smith poem contained in her 1973’s self titled book…
Over the course of their career, Carnival of Fools played with Hugo Race & The True Spirit, toured with their idols Beasts of Bourbon and, in 1994, were asked by Mick Harvey himself to open for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds in Milan.
….. Carnival of Fools remain one of the best expressions of the 90’s Italian independent scene. As Kim Salmon of the Beasts of Bourbon once said after seeing them live, “had they been an Australian band they would have had international visibility and resonance”. Instead, they remain one of the best kept secrets of our underground and it is a pleasure to be able to listen again today to everything the band recorded in those five frenetic years lived at full speed. Play it loud!’

Mastered by Giovanni Versari at “La Maestà Studio”, the double CD comes in a rich package with hardback cover and 20 pages of booklet full of pics and details on the discography.
