(When the Brazilian band Os Canibais recorded its second album, the members left the Jovem Guarda (the country’s answer to Beatlemania) days behind and came out with a new name and a new sound that comprised psychedelia, hard-rock, pop, soul and even Brazilian country music. Bango’s s/t only LP was released in 1970, but despite being well recorded and having an inspired repertoire, it met with little success. Nevertheless, the LP includes killer tracks with catchy choruses, fuzz guitars, Hammond sounds, loud drums and far out atmospheres. If you like Os Mutantes and the lost Brazilian bands from the late ’60s and early ’70s (f.i. Som Imaginario, Spectrum, Liverpool and A Bolha) you will definitely dig Bango! This special vinyl reissue includes one previously unissued bonus track, a cover of Elephant’s Memory ‘Mongoose’)
