)The Turin combo seems destined to write for a long time rich and fascinating pages of its history and those of psychedelia in Italy. This 180 grams vinyl album, with attached digital coupon, is then printed with a flipback cover, just like the albums released in the 60’s in UK. But here are the notes of Rossana Morriello, rock journalist, to introduce us to their new album ‘Mutter Der Erde’.
< Mutter Der Erde, Mother of the Earth, is the new album by No Strange, the cult psychedelic band of the 80’s that after a long break, in 2011 reappeared on the scene and since then recorded four albums.
Mutter der Erde is the fifth album since their reunion and still confirms the great vitality of the band, which is able to reinvent itself on every release, with a lineup each time renewed around the original members, Ursus and Ezzu, and the involvement of guests and collaborators. In this work, there are many excellent collaborations with different geographic provenance and musical background. First, the collaboration started with Jutta Nienhaus, voice of Analogy, the Italian-German psych-prog band of the 70’s, but interrupted by her premature death. The German title is a tribute to Jutta. Then, with Armenian singer Rita Tekeyan, in a song from the music tradition of her country with lyrics by poet Komitas. Also, two musicians with a classical background, cellist and flutist Simona Colonna and viellist and violinist Stefania Priotti, get alongside Riccardo Salvini and Gabriele Maggiorotto, bassist and drummer of the young psych rock band from Torino Indianizer.
Different souls that come together in a cultural and musical melting pot for an inspired and intense album, in which ethereal psychedelic atmospheres often give way to prog digressions and rock rides, then coming back again to the fascinating suggestions of ancient music, from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, that sound incredibly modern.
A polyphonic and multifaceted album which carries on the music route started many years ago, still able to give emotions>.
