Speakeasy – Speakeasy

Detour records are proud to announce their first album by speakeasy on the ‘paisley archive’ label. This band shouldn’t need any introductions but just in case you been in outer space for the last few years we will introduce you to them anyway…mark le gallez on vocals (the risk / thee jenerators), simon stebbing on guitar (the purple hearts / rt4), brett ‘buddy’ ascott on drums (the chords / the rage / pope) and mic ‘ace bass’ stoner on bass. Past members who contribute to three of the tracks on this release include fay hallam (makin’ time / prime movers / fay hallam trinity) and mike ‘ace’ evans (the action / mighty baby). So you can just see the pedigree of this out standing band! Buddy ascott explains… I can’t even remember how this all came about…a phone call, an e-mail, a drunken proposition that involved music, nothing illicit. There was simon, of course, driving force and linchpin of the whole project – creative, experimental, always positive about future plans. And mark was instantly on board – our very own muse and sounding board – with mark nothing is off-limits, it’s all good, and why-the-hell-not-try-that-you-never-know-it-might-work! Fay was the icing on the original cake, embellishing, augmenting and adding an extra sonic layer with her hammond-destroying antics at toerag studios. We call it speakeasy, and this album is dedicated to the memory and spirit of mike evans. Mike "ace" evans. Features … Intro … / the blues have got me / your precious ways / let’s roll / shadows & reflections / little louis / red wine song / seeds / soul searching / veni vidi vici / no smile day / po’ dog / vanity clause / love and understanding / outro…
