It’s definitely the Liars’ sound, but it’s different…)BIOGRAPHY
The Liars formed in Pisa in 1985, founded by bassist/vocalist Alessandro Ansani and guitarist/vocalist Pier Paolo Morini. In addition to Ansani – a former member of Useless Boys, still famous in the neopsychedelic scene for their cult demo "Dream’s Dust Factory" – and Morini, the group originally featured drummer Andrea Cecchi.
The Liars initially forged a sound that owed much to 1960s tones mixing garage punk, power pop and psychedelia and their 1986 demo tape "’86 tears" was soon followed by their first 12" entitled "Optical Sound". The record, released in 1987 by Supporti Fonografici, a Milan-based label, contained the hit track "She’s All right".
The following year the Liars brought out their commercially and critically successful album "Mindscrewer" (Tramite Records, Brescia) with its ten imaginative psychedelic songs enriched by gritty accents.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s the set toured throughout Europe, especially Italy, Germany and Switzerland, establishing a solid fan base and supported bands such as The Chesterfield Kings, the Fuzztones, Jesus and the Mary Chain and The Prime Movers.
In 1990 the German label Unique Records released The Liars’ 7" "Cold Girl" – with "Flashin’" and the live cover of the garage hit "Satisfaction Guaranteed" as its flipside.
During the 90s the sound of the band became harder and sharper, as the ten songs of the CD "Shake your head", recorded under the Florentine Coffee House Music label in 1994, prove.
In the following years, the band gave form to the 4 song-CD "Plastic People" (1998) and the single "Looking at the mirror"(2003), both unreleased, and performed several gigs for new and older fans.
The Liars reformed in 2009 with drummer Andrea "Vipera" Salani who inspired the band to get back to basics and to its psychedelic and garage roots.
In May 2010 Area Pirata (Pisa) realised the double A-side 7" – Salvation/Can’t stay away from you – which testify a sound coming back from their roots with a fresh attitude.

DIGGING THIS!!!!!!!
Formed in 1985, Italian Garage/Psych band The Liars are back with there first album since their 1995 release Shake Your Head…….. veterans of the Italian 80s Neo-Psychedelic scene, with their Stonesy swagger The Liars were favourably compared to bands such as The Chesterfield Kings, The Fuzztones and The Prime Movers.
Out NOW on Area Pirata Records (the home of Italian Garage Rock dont’cha know) we have been giving this some serious spins on our Dancette
Bertrand Tappaz – 12/11/2018 – VOIX DE GARAGE GRENOBLE
