The Strange Flowers Across The River And Through The Trees

(10 years after their debut with “Music for Astronauts”, published by Music Maniac Records within the cult “Teen Trash” series, The Strange Flowers from Pisa come back with this unexpected, yet remarkable 4-track EP entitled “Across the River” and through the trees, the first musical publication of the new Italian label Edizioni dei Corrieri Cosmici distributed exclusively via the NOW SOUND MAILORDER. The title track seems to be a start-back-from-where-we-left statement, as The Strange Flowers go back to the atmospheres of the psychedelic ballads of Music for Astronauts. Extremely melancholic and visionary, the song is a true trip across open spaces where sounds and words melt into a moody picture. The following two songs, a powerful cover of 13th Floor Elevators Youre gonna miss me and the original, contaminated psycho-garage song Youve been a queen, are a sort of tribute to the roots of psychedelic rock, but still sounds and atmospheres tend to be self-exploring and unquiet. The last song is a cover of Pink Floyds Green is the Color, in which, again, The Strange Flowers depict a decadent, moody environment. In a season in which psychedelic and garage rock are put aside, The Strange Flowers show that it is still possible to play inspired music and provide a source of inspiration to the listener!)
